I haven’t heard of the Miss Earth 2008 Beauty pageant before. I just went to the website and there’s so many different countries being represented to promote the preservation of our environment, which is a pretty good idea.

Unfortunately we don’t have a list of local events for every Miss Earth contest. But it might be easy to find out through each participating country’s entertainment sites.
Please track developments at the official Miss Earth site. They usually put up each of the participating countries and their beauties in early October.

what is the cause of being a Miss Earth candidate?
October 6th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
@GioGio
We have to wait for the schedule since they are still busy preparing for the 2008 pageant.
@Going Green
Apparently, some business-minded government officials did. :)It was originally thought of as a tourism boost but caught on internationally.
@Joel Lima
Sorry for your comments not appearing instantly, they were caught by Akismet. We’re sorry for what happened to your sister, it must be causing you pain.
Officially, the causes or reasons of being a Miss Earth candidate is the protection and conservation of mother nature. However, on the personal level, the different contestants may have varying reasons for joining the pageant and none of them may have to do with nature.
It’s the same with the Miss Earth pageant itself. The original concept has something to do with tourism, then it bloomed into a nature-themed beauty pageant. And, yeah, it has to make money, we acknowledge that.
Such is the nature of things, we need money to promote nature. Even this blog needs money for the hosting, domain, and other web stuff. But rather than exposing the pageant as a farce, we’d rather use it to expose and promote mother nature in mainstream society. We want to use it to send the message to kids and young people that it’s fun, hip, and cool to be identified with nature.
This is a fight we can’t win alone. We can’t afford to segregate people into opposing camps, especially since father time is against us. We have to cross social and economic divides and hold hands.
Thanks.

As for me, Miss Earth is the world’s 2nd best beauty pageant after Miss Universe. The only pageant with a well defined purpose. One of the most exciting part of the pageant is the Q&A portion, Miss earth offers a very unique and tough questions every year ( which makes the world amaze )and shocked the candidates. Unlike Miss Universe the Q&A portion looks so light, and doesn’t make any sense.
The only edition of Miss Earth that embarassed so many, was Miss Earth 2007, obviously the pageant was unprepared as seen during the final night. Their outfit (of the candidates )during the production number that time didn’t look good, and even the ” dog show” made by Miss Thailand’s interpreter. I hope Miss Earth Organizers will make Miss Earth 2008 coronation night a ” pageant never seen before!

We did observed that.
The questions. We’d like to think that Miss Earth contestants are indeed beauty and brains.

I’m beginning to think that you are a spammer. You have posted exactly the same message 3x. We have already replied to your comment earlier.
If you’re spamming, man, your method is definitely depraved.

Oh, I know exactly how you feel. And I am not saying that to make you feel better. It is not only you who have lost a loved one.
I already answered you previous comment (you should check all your comments here) and if you’re not satisfied with it then I’m sorry. There is a contact form at missearth.tv, maybe they can provide a better answer.
You are very welcome to visit and browse this blog but please understand that haunting every post on the Miss Earth Pageant won’t bring your sister back.
On the other hand, if you wish to enlighten others on the dark side of the pageant, then I suggest you make a blog or website.
Thank you.
