The Tata Group of India has unveiled the world’s cheapest car with a $2,500.00 introductory price tag. Time dot com has included it in the twelve most important cars of all times, alongside the Toyota Prius (the pioneering hybrid electric/gas run consumer vehicle with a hefty price tag) and Honda Civic (which outperformed gas-guzzling American rivals during the oil crises of the 1970s).
Experts are afraid the affordable price and mass appeal of the car will increase emission problems.

wow! world’s cheapest car, eh? what about the specs? i’m curious about fuel economy.

Engine = all-aluminium, two-cylinder, 623 cc, 33 PS, multi- point fuel injection petrol engine
Horsepower = 33
Mileage = 51.7 mpg (4.55 L/100 km), city road conditions.
Acceleration = 0-70 kph (43 mph) in 43 seconds.
Max Speed = 65 mph (105 kph)
You can’t win a drag race with this thing but it sure is not an ecological disaster in the waiting. Many innovations were introduced in making it, the drive train alone has 34 patents.
And the manufacturer isn’t a small fry either, Tata is a serious bidder for the Jaguar brand.

I would love to have a smaller car but living in Canada it’s just not practical. We get alot of snow in the winter and I would be stuck in a snow bank most of the time with this cute little vehicle.

Yep, small cars won’t be appropriate for places like yours. Only SUVs and trucks would do. But there’s hope even for these huge and thirsty metal beasts…

The car is for Indian Rs. 100000 = US $2222

Yes, but it isn’t cheap because it’s of poor quality. Even Tata admits that he won’t be making much from the car at that price.
